Oil on Canvas
This painting is part of the “Gray” series. It is a literal and satirical translation of detachment in the philosophical sense. Kant, Nietzsche, the Buddhist and many others describe it as a solution to suffering. Arthur Schopenhauer proposes this concept as a pseudo-spiritual approach to kill the “super will”. Our desire to live in what he depicts as a line between boredom and suffering with moments of relief that we call happiness. He describes this as the tragic play of life.
