Oil on Canvas
73×60 cm

This piece is part of a series of four. It talks about what portraits are and the inside dialogue of the person that is being portrayed and the painter.
My great grandfather on my dad’s side was a painter. His name was Enrique Dorda. He made a living doing portraits for the Spanish dictator Franco, all of the generals, the European royalty and several actors. He did over 3000 portraits during his life and my grandfather, even though they weren’t really in touch, became a painter as well and at the end of his life made a living off of his portraits of every day people. This series is my tribute to them and to this popular dialogue of identity.
