Morelia, State of Michoacán, Mexico

The machete is a traditional tool for farmers. It also represents a movement to defend the rights of the workers and the people.

In the past years Morelia has been free of the “Narco” gangs thanks to the “Guardia Comunitaria” (the people’s police), a vast group of people that decided to take arms in order to defend the town. This occurs in other towns around the country. In Morelia, it has been successful so far.
