Cage
Woods
London

WOODS  was a sculpture / installation trail in and around the grounds of St Peters in the Forest Church, Walthamstow's gateway to Epping Forest.

There was a selection of 8 local and international artiststhat made site specific works in response to the environment and running a programme of free community workshops, curated along-side the E17 art trail.

Cage is a playful space installed next to the graves for people to use as they like. Inside it, there is a swing where you can sit. The piece invites you to play with the cage and experience it from different places, and not only to leave or break the cage, physically or psychologically, as it could be religion, ideology, politics, or culture. But rather recognize it and use it like a bridge to overcome and play.

The cage holds a neon sign on the top that says 'nothing', sustaining a space that doesn't preach. It is a nothing cage that provides an empty symbol to juggle with.
