Akron
This piece is dedicated to their friends and families.
This piece is a note on human inter-relational experiences. It’s six to explore a contextual specific interaction, aiming towards a reflection over an embedded overarching feeling and common behavior. The reference is taken from an application designed to create a network of private doorbell cameras, with the goal of “always knowing what is happening in your neighborhood with real time, hyper local safety“. The description of the original video reads “suspicious young man“. In further comments it’s mentioned that the person ringing the doorbell was asking about their lost dog.
During the process of producing this mural. Jayland Walker was shot dead 60 times by Akron police officers. Two days later a citizen reported a complaint asking for “the hoodie to be removed from the only person on the wall“. Besides the referenced image being blurred by a glitch in the doorbell camera the person depicted doesn’t have a hoodie on. This piece proposes our discussion point on irrational fear, violence, and a sense of paranoia in modern society.
