Halaban, Indonesia
2017

This mural is painted on a house in a small village called Halaban. Placed in the middle of a palm oil plantation in Sumatra, Indonesia. We were invited by @splashandburn two create a project that tackles environmental issues.
Through the subject of the palm oil industry, the project addresses the consequences and results of the neo-liberal, industrialist world we are currently living in.

In this project our approach was to have a more quotidien and introspective proximity towards this topic. From the specific to the general.
We spent about two weeks living in the village with a family in the process of making a film, interacting with the kids and the workers in their context and producing two murals.

Special thanks to Jeckson, his family and the people of Halaban, for their hospitality and their friendships, they are missed. To my brother @l.e.other for joining me in this endeavor. To the @orangutaninformationcentre for their help and hospitality. To @ernestzacharevic , @charlotte_pyatt and the @splashandburn crew for inviting us to be a part of this amazing project.
